MARTIN STANCLIFFE

Martin Stancliffe is the founding Director of Martin Stancliffe Architects. Surveyor to the fabric of St Paul’s Cathedral, and cathedral architect to Lichfield Cathedral and Southwell Minster. He has been chairman of the Cathedral Architects Association since 1999, and until recently he was a member of the Cathedrals Fabric Commission for England.

He has been a regular lecturer at the Institute of Advanced Architectural Studies, University of York; the Architectural Association, London and the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation of Cultural Property (ICCROM), Rome. He is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and an Honorary Fellow of the Department of Archaeology, University of York.



GEOFFREY HOLLAND
DIP ARCH, DIP CONSERVATION STUDIES, RIBA, AABC

Geoffrey Holland is architect to churches in the York, Lincoln, Durham, Sheffield and Ripon dioceses and holds a Diploma in Conservation Studies from the Institute of Advanced Architectural Studies, York. He is a committee member of the York Consortium for Conservation and Craftsmanship since 2000 and an approved architect for the Churches Conservation Trust. He is an approved architect for the National Trust and English Heritage, and for the Civic Trust for the North East.

He has been historic buildings consultant and adviser to various local authorities and is an Architect Accredited in Building Conservation. He lectures occasionally at the Institute of Advanced Architectural Studies, University of York. He is the founder member of the Yorkshire branch of the Association for Studies in the Conservation of Historic Buildings and a member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation.



CHRISTOPHER COTTON
BA(HONS), DIP ARCH(DIST), RIBA

Chris graduated from Portsmouth Polytechnic with a BA (Hons) in Architecture in 1987 and gained a Diploma in Architecture (Distinction) in 1990. He joined the practice in 1996 after leaving Hampshire County Architects Department. Chris was made an associate with the practice on 1st January 2003.

Chris has worked on many diverse projects; as a consultant to redesign the Nave, Chancel and fitting of St James Episcopal Church, Richmond, Virginia, USA, and has been involved with the Prince of Wales Institute of Architecture as a studio design tutor in the "Introduction to the Classical Language of Architecture".

At present Chris is working on various design projects within and around St Paul's Cathedral and the Thomas Ken Centre, Wells Cathedral, where visitor and education facilities need to be integrated carefully and sensitively into the Cathedral precinct fabric.
